Many LDK residents and their loved ones may have heard about the new Aged Care Reforms and funding changes being introduced, with the new Support at Home Program, which is scheduled to commence from 1 July 2025. Here’s a short summary about those changes and what we are doing at LDK ahead of those changes coming into effect.
Aged Care Reforms
- Commencing 1 July 2025, in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, the Australian Government is introducing significant aged care reforms.
- These reforms will bring about a New Aged Care Act, new funding in the way of a Support at Home Program and strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Ultimately the reforms seek to build a system that:
- supports ageing with dignity, choice, and independence;
- is safer, fairer, and more responsive; and
- places the older person at the centre of care.
Support at Home Program
- The Support at Home Program will replace the current Home Care Package (HCP) program and, later in 2027 the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
- The goals of the program include:
- easier access for older Australians to the care and support needed to live independently and safely in their homes; and
- ensuring older Australians receive, respectful and person-centred care.
- For further information, please visit the Department of Health website where a number of resources can be accessed

- We are making the necessary changes to align with the government’s requirements and the new legislation;
- We are committed to continuing to partner with residents, old and new throughout this transition and into the future; and
- We are continuing the dialogue and Resident Information Forums at each of our Villages, as more information becomes available from the Department of Health.
